Institut Marquès, our Assisted Reproduction superheroes!
Following the recommendation of two clinics by our French gynaecologist, we decided to set out to conquer Spain!
The first clinic sold us a dream. Frankly, it seemed like a bad B-movie, with incoherent dialogue and moments worthy of a failed sitcom… And that’s where the second clinic came in. Everything was fluid, understandable and, above all, no drama on the horizon! We had found our ideal travelling companions!
We arrived at the first visit bright-eyed and heart-pounding. My partner, who is a musician, was delighted to learn that the embryos were sometimes entitled to private concerts in the corridors of the lab. A zen atmosphere just before and after the transfer, thanks to an on-site acupuncture session. On D-day, we were welcomed like real VIPs in small individual rooms, with our first names written on the door. We felt really pampered. We were able to thank the whole team as we left and give a little note to our donor, who gave us 4 ‘hummingbirds’. And every time a baby is born, they plant a tree with the baby’s name on it. There’s something magical about a little ‘green’ thought for our little one, isn’t there?
So yes, you may think this is all too ‘commercial’…. But frankly, the team at Institut Marquès in Barcelona has shown a kindness rarely seen in the French medical world. They are our Assisted Reproduction superheroes. From the beginning of our adventure with them, they have been very present and responsive to all our requests and questions. And after my miscarriage and the failure of the 2nd transfer, our medical assistant emailed us regularly to know how we were doing. We felt like we had our own fan club.
We can’t wait to continue this epic adventure with Dr. Mallafré and her team. Institut Marquès has given us a real ray of hope in our plans to start a family.
