Antonio Orozco meets his youngest fan

Antonio Orozco meets his youngest fan

La pequeña Zoe fue uno de los embriones que asistieron al concierto que el cantante ofreció en el laboratorio de Fecundación In Vitro de Institut Marquès hace siete años.

The meeting between the artist and little Zoe has taken place in the same place where they met, in the IVF laboratory of Institut Marquès in Barcelona.

It was Antonio Orozco himself who suggested organising it and he volunteered to attend the event with the aim of spreading the benefits of music in the beginning of life.Antonio Orozco and Zoe have met seven years after their first meeting: when she was only a five-cell embryo, she attended the concert that the singer and composer offered at the Institut Marquès laboratories.

Days later, she would be transferred to her mother’s womb and, nine months later, she became Orozco’s youngest fan. The musician and singer has always remembered this ‘concert for embryos’ as one of the most special of his life. At the time of the concert, in July 2015, 380 embryos were developing in the incubators of Institut Marquès as a result of their Assisted Reproduction treatments.

Seven years later, they have become children of different nationalities.Institut Marquès’ embryo concerts are part of its work on the benefits of music in embryonic and foetal development. For years, all their incubators have incorporated music inside. In this way, they have demonstrated that musical vibrations increase the fertilisation rate of IVF cycles by 5% and improve embryo development.

A unique concert in the world

Antonio Orozco’s concert at Institut Marquès was the first ‘concert for embryos’ in the world. Subsequently, Institut Marquès has organised other events like this one in its laboratory with singers such as Sharon Corr and Alex Ubago or the Italian musician Emiliano Toso.
