BOOKS
I want to get pregnant now! – Dra. Marisa López-Teijón, Director of Institut Marquès
Barely half of infertile couples seek help and it is estimated that only 22% go on to receive medical treatment. When they do consult, it is often for alternative treatments or they arrive at a late age to specialists. We must act so that they do not lose time: Medical treatments are effective but a high proportion abandon them due to misinformation, anxiety, hopelessness or fear of further failure. The aim of this book is to help these people and to ensure that infertility is no longer a fact to be hidden, that our society accepts it as a disease and that it can be talked about in a normal way.
Madr¿eh? – Lyona Ivanova
Renowned illustrator Lyona Ivanova presents a book written and drawn in a humorous way, to normalise and make infertility visible. Madr ¿eh? denounces the guilt, taboo and shame that many women who find it difficult to have children still suffer. After four long years of looking for a pregnancy, Assisted Reproduction has finally made it possible for her to hold her baby in her arms. At Institut Marquès we are happy to have helped her on her way to motherhood.
Zoe In Vitro, the baby that came out before being conceived - Albert Escoda
This is the incredible story of the baby who went outside before being conceived and lived through the lengthy process of In Vitro Fertilisation. An amazing story that explains the origin of life up to the wondrous moment of birth. This children’s story is a fantastic tool to explain to children born thanks to In Vitro Fertilisation (or any other Assisted Reproduction treatment) their origins. It does so naturally, simply, directly and clearly. In this book, one of our patients, Albert Escoda, explains for his daughter the story of his conception in which courage, effort, tenacity, hope and love overcome the difficulties of a mysterious process in which a sperm and an egg will become an embryo and finally a human being.
In Vitro Veritas - Vanessa Stiennon, Pedro E. Jiménez
When a couple is looking for a child and it doesn’t come, an abyss of medical tests, doubts and loneliness opens up before them. This is how the authors of this book found themselves when they were confronted with sterility, and because of this they decided to write down their experience. Without claiming to be a guide to the path that a couple must follow in the face of this diagnosis, it does aim to be a companion, a text that makes the couple who read it feel that they are not alone, and that what they are going through has been experienced by many others before and will be experienced by many others afterwards. In this book, our patients, Vanessa and Pedro, explain the process of achieving a child through in vitro fertilisation and help us to understand what families going through this process go through.
Cloe wants to be a mum - Rosa Maestro
Chloe wants to be a mum’ is a beautiful story to explain her origin to the children of single mothers. The author explains: “I am the mother of two girls, Alba, the result of Artificial Insemination by Donor (AID) and Luna Nabila, the result of an adoption. When Alba was three years old I felt the need to transmit my experience through a story, with the idea of accompanying other mothers in the process of transmitting, as naturally as possible and in a way that children could understand, what their origin is”.
IVF that will change your LIFE - Lorena Rami
A guide to coping with IVF, written by Lorena. Rami, PhD in psychology and mother after three IVF treatments. “When I finished my IVF treatment I felt the desire to be able to help in some way those people who had fallen by the wayside. I hope that this book can transmit to you all the energy that I have put into it, an energy and vibration that you will be able to perceive if you read it with full attention and let my message reach your heart, from where I tried to write it, so take it with you on your IVF journey! –

BABYPOD
A small speaker for intravaginal use that allows you to share music, communicate with your baby and stimulates the development of their vocalisation from before birth.
Music activates language and communication stimulation centres, inducing a vocalisation movement response. Babies learn to speak by sticking out their tongues. With Babypod, we start vocalising in the womb. Endorsed by a committee of experts in various scientific areas and by Institut Marquès, a centre of reference for its studies on music in early life.
Fetal vocalisation movements
Fetal vocalisation movements can be clearly seen on 2D ultrasound, using sagittal slices of the mouth: this will allow us to visualise the movements of the tongue inside the mouth, as well as protrusion.
3D/4D ultrasound will allow us to obtain panoramic images of the foetus’ face, and thus assess all the nuances of facial expression during vocalisation movements.
