The laboratories of Institut Marquès at its centres in Barcelona and Rome are equipped with the latest technology and facilities designed to achieve the best results in Assisted Reproduction. They have a team of embryologists who specialise in different areas and technologies In addition to their experience with the most innovative techniques, the team of biologists at Institut Marquès stands out for its scientific and R&D work.
With all the necessary safety measures to monitor processes and the latest technology in medical equipment, the Institut Marquès laboratories are at the global forefront. Every detail of these facilities is designed with the highest levels in technology,From the anti-vibration worktables, which facilitate maximum precision in all processes, to the various types of filters that neutralise possible volatile organic compounds and maintain maximum air purity at all times.
Moreover, at the Barcelona head offices, the Institut Marquès laboratory is divided into two completely independent areas. This ensures that it can continue to operate 365 days a year without affecting its activity during equipment revision or calibration.
Institut Marquès offers all its patients the possibility of experiencing the development of their treatment live, as if they were inside the laboratory itself, using the Embryomobile, an application that allows them to follow the evolution of their embryos in the time-lapse incubator.
The Andrology Laboratory has two adjoining collection rooms, which allow the patient to give the sample directly to the team of biologists.
In the Assisted Reproduction laboratory our little patient is the embryo and all our work is aimed at protecting it, given its high sensitivity to variations in light and atmospheric conditions.
For this reason, our biologists work practically in the dark and do not use cosmetics or perfumes so as not to release volatile organic compounds that could affect the embryos. Furthermore, to minimize the possible entry of contaminating particles, they cannot wear jewelry or watches, they wear a freshly washed uniform every time they enter the laboratory, they always protect their hair with a cap, they wear specially sanitized shoes and, before entering, They step on sticky mats whose function is to retain possible contaminating particles and prevent them from reaching the work area.
But the safety guarantees in the Assisted Reproduction laboratory are not reduced only to environmental conditions: maintaining control of the information in all processes is vital, and for this reason, biologists always work in pairs, so that one acts as controller of the other, validating the procedure carried out by the colleague and thus guaranteeing that all processes begin and end according to the planned objectives.
Since embryos do not understand schedules or holidays, our laboratory remains open every day of the year, so that at all times our patients are calm knowing that they are safe, waiting to be transferred to the mother’s womb.
Take a tour of the Institut Marquès laboratories guided by one of our biologists. The visit describes the process followed in In Vitro Fertilisation, from the collection of the sperm sample to the complementary techniques that can be used in particularly difficult cases.
The video offers images of the operating room, the room where embryo transfer is carried out and the cryopreservation room, where the gametes and frozen embryos are stored.
