Advanced Technology
in Assisted Reproduction

What complementary techniques do we have to improve success rates in Assisted Reproduction?

Preimplantation Genetic Testing - PGT

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is the technique that was formerly known as Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). It involves the biopsy or extraction of one or several cells from embryos obtained after In Vitro Fertilisation to analyse their genetic or chromosomal content. De esta forma se seleccionan los embriones sanos y con más posibilidades de conseguir implantarse.

Time-Lapse Incubators: EmbryoScope

Time-lapse incubators, such as the EmbryoScope, allow the division of embryos to be monitored live without having to remove them. Thanks to this time-lapse technology, biologists can track the evolution of the embryos in real-time, without exposing them to temperature changes and oxidative stress, which would occur if they had to be observed under a microscope outside the incubator.

Embryomobile

Embryomobile is a completely innovative application from Institut Marquès. It allows patients to watch the development of their embryos in the EmbryoScope incubator on their mobile phones. They can do this in real-time, 24 hours a day, from the moment of fertilisation until the day of the embryo transfer. The emotional impact that comes with viewing the embryos improves pregnancy rates.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection - ICSI

This is a procedure where a sperm is injected into the egg with a micro-needle. This is how fertilisation is achieved. At Institut Marquès, all IVF treatments are performed using this sperm injection technique.

IMSI

In our new IVF Laboratory, we have IMSI (intracytoplasmic morphologically-selected sperm injection) technology, which allows us to magnify sperm by up to 16 000 times, to select those with the best morphology.

Fertile

It allows you to select the best sperm to increase the success of the In Vitro Fertilization treatment in cases of sperm DNA fragmentation. The FERTILE® chip is the latest technology for sperm selection.

Genetic micromanipulation

Genetic Micromanipulation techniques in Assisted Reproduction are complementary techniques to In Vitro Fertilization indicated in special cases to improve results. There is a lot of types

Polaraide

With this technique, the most important structures of the egg can be observed, such as the meiotic spindle (the internal structure of the oocyte where its genetic material is concentrated), to avoid damaging it during the microinjection process and, thus, increasing the fertilisation rate.

Erotic Personal System

The Erotic Personal System (EPS) is a programme devised by Institut Marquès to increase male satisfaction during the Assisted Reproduction process, give him the prominence he deserves and facilitate the collection of the sperm sample.

Genetic Compatibility Test

With this test, 420 genes related to recessive or X-linked pathologies are analysed using massive sequencing and other techniques to assess reproductive risk. By comparing the results of a couple, we can determine if both are carriers of the same alteration.
